Reading back through some postings about using Trombone cleaners. I previously asked whether the cleaner came out the bottom after feeding it in, and apparantly not. If this is the case, how do you know if you are not just compacting any crud that is in drain, then making it worse??. I know their are 4 drains to check. cheers

Withy, did you fix your PSE valve ok, or get a replacement valve.

Reference the Mesh Recall topic on the 718 forum, someone asked why only the 718 was recalled for side intake mesh replacement, and not the 981., but didnt get an answer. Anyone know why it was only the 718. ( replaced to stop cigarette butts , etc causing a potential fire)

Yes, i thought £690 was not bad, especially when it is every 2 years, against other brands of cars which have services every year. It works out not much different if you halve the Porsche service cost. I didn't have an intermediate oil change either as i only did about 5k in that time, and i'm sure Fully Synthetic oil will do for 5k miles🙂.

south wales
in 981
Just got back from a 500 mile trip around south wales. I envy anyone who lives their, the roads are fantastic, standout ones A4069, Black Mountain Pass, and A4061. Wow !!. Luckily the roads were quiet , but can imagine they get packed in high season. NC 500 next , but not sure if the roads, scenery would be any better.
Regarding other posts on consumption, i had a long period when i was at 70/80mph getting their and was amazed to see 39.7mpg showing. I filled up when we arrived at our first stop, and it actually worked out slightly more than 40mpg. Why buy electric😀. In the mountains was a different story 15 mpg, but great fun, haha.

Why pay 200 when 20 will do. Its waterproof, it covers, I'm not bothered about how it looks, its just functional, But everyone to their own. Agree tyres are important, but i'm not risking a horrible death fitting a cheap cover😃

when using these trombone cleaner thingys can you see them come out the bottom on a 981?, so you know the drain is clear.

I Never fit the cover to a wet top, and it is not really on for extended periods, coz i use the car. Just when a load of rain ,or Bird Cr#p is forcast. I bought an expensive cover from Custom Covers at first, took about half hour to fit and then came off if i breathed on it, so that went back and the " Cheap", fully waterproof, fabric lined one has worked perfectly for the last 2 yrs, only just got another as the first one was looking a bit dirty, but still waterproof. I realise the cost of replacing these roofs iro £3000 i believe on the £35K car, but i do fabsil it, and generally try to look after it. My main bug bare is the ugly crease lines , which cant be helped i suppose.

nice looking box, cant beat a bold colour on these
-
Second the use of a half cover, just got a new one £18, the other lasted 2 years , and was 100% waterproof. For the price it is a 2 yr disposable item. Brilliant!!
-
Just had Major service at Brookspeed, Plugs, Brake fluid change, etc £780 inc, ok for another 2 years hopefully.

weak carpet shampoo and a carpet cleaner with nozzle and brush attachment. The water colour afterwards makes it well worth doing it 😀

Just seen a 2012 S PDK, No PSE, No Sports Wheel, No Sport Chrono, Only 17000 miles, But £39995 at Paragon . Seems like they are still holding their value, but that is just too much i think
-
I would have thought the sports wheel would have been standard on GTS? Obviously not. I still find it hard to warrant the extra money for a GTS. My S seems to have most of a GTS ( More if you dont get the wheel as std), inc Sport Techno wheels, except Sports seats, and a different front spoiler, But to the average jo looking at a GTS as you go by , it would be a Boxster 981, but 10-15k more!!!. Any one GTS or S is great though

Passed MOT at my local garage, he said they dont get many NICE cars in to work on, ha,ha. Just got service light up, so it off to Brookspeed, Southampton, to have its Major done in a couple of weeks.
Rhodes bar with Porsche collection.

Just got back from Rhodes, Just up the road from where we stayed in Faliraki was a bar, JD Friends, which had a collection of Porches, including a rather nice 914, with a US body kit which changed it from an ugly duckling into something special. Also a few tasty Harleys, my type of Bar. Also inquired at our hotel about cost of a Box (987) for the day, it was 250 Euros, went and got another beer instead.🙂
