WhatSheSaid
Tried fixing my indicator stalk today (doesnt self cancel), but noticed someone had been in there before and attempted a fix. The rivets in there gave it away. Looks like theres no fixing this one, so new second hand one ordered up and should be here in the week. Haven't had to do my seats so far, even though my car has 150k miles on it (57k of which have been under my ownership). They may very well be broken and I haven't realised, like the vast majority of original seats out there. Mind you, I have never found the original standard seats comfortable, even as a 5' 9" mesomorph. They're too narrow, do not offer enough lateral support and I wish I could sit another inch or two lower in the car. Some people upgrade to 987 seats, but they just wouldn't look right. A professional car audio company! 😉 Sorry. I contemplated doing it myself and indeed was planning to, read up on the loom requirements etc, then decided that because I wanted DAB and external microphone for the 'hands free' ( and because of the number of threads on here and elsewhere on 'fitted my new head unit but nothing heard...' )I would be better paying someone to do it. So I did.

I suggest have a look at incartec.co.uk they have a really good “menu” of what you have, what you want and then gives you what you need to hook things up. You may well be able to get the same parts from other places but their website is a great guide to building the shopping list and they are decent people to deal with if you decided to get what you need from them. That’s good mileage! I found the 996 sports hard back less comfortable than the 987 seats and these seats on my 986 seem ok. The standard 987 seats don’t look that different from memory? I swapped the hard back sports seats out of my 986, where they were really uncomfortable, into my 996 (which had standard tombstones, and colour painted the backs and replaced the foam in the back of the drivers seat) where they are absolutely fine, very comfortable, seem like different seats, extra couple of inches of rear travel makes all the difference. Then put Pole Positions in the 986. Which are great and, in my opinion, really lift the cabin.
WhatSheSaid
I bought an Eonon Carplay stereo and fitted it a few weeks ago. To be honest it's rubbish. The screen constantly turned itself off requiring a hard reboot every time. That got sent back, and was replaced by an Atoto A6 android head unit, which also has Carplay. Much better in every way. Main difference is the bolt holes are the same depth as the head of the pack. They come with longer bolts E10 female Torx head but 8mm socket or ring spanner will work OK. 1 and 4 are fiddly being buried along way forward of the wheel arch. Torqued up to 10Nm and a test start done, may be placebo, but fire up seems just a bit sharper than before. Did a test drive this afternoon. It may be placebo but there certainly seems a crisper response to throttle applications... Initial visual inspection of the the removed items, obviously fairly old, possibly original and on a couple one of the fixing holes the plastic had split. S14
Hi, After replacing the suspension arms etc, I had a 4 wheel alignment carried at by ATS today. Well the alignment is better than when it went in👍, but probably a more specialist alignment company would have “fine tuned”it.

You have on the front toe out on one wheel and toe in on the other. The rear toe in, while green and seemingly in spec seems to be too much. Normally this will show as 0.05. No excuse for 40' different left and right to get the front track in. If they'd reduce the rear toe on both sides they'd have got the rear camber in to spec, changing the toe affects the camber and vice-versa. Nearside camber you may want to loosen the top mount and pull it out a fraction and nip it up again to get less camber but to get closer to matching the off side. Bradders59
Airbag, steering wheel, and column switches removed. Hopefully tomorrow I will manage diy repairs on the usual indicator switch and random horn problems, then put it all back together. Watch this space. It might end in tears. 😁 Next job will be to remove drivers door card and spray contact cleaner into doorhandle microswitch and hope it cures the window drop problem. Patt
I would just like to clarify that there is payment scale in place. Sure it starts with Jaffas, then it's vodka, then pizza is added.....🤩
