Cocky
Drama at alignment as the bolt kit I bought from Spyder Performance didn't come with the eccentric washers so tried to use the old ones but they've lost part of the notch so had to come away and get some new ones installed. Harder than I thought as the old ones had jumped around onto the thread. No fun was had.
Chris D
Replaced the rear tyres + AC regas. Rears were still on 6mm but dated 2017. They were rock hard and lethal in the wet. So much better already. Eagle F1s for reference. AC is proper cold now.

Chris D
£406 delivered. 265/35/19 N0 My lad fitted them for me foc (works at ETS). Same with the re-gas. Although that cost me £50. Edited July 10 by Chris D
BBB
Wrong way around, I know, but after the torrential thunderstorm we had yesterday I thought I’d better check that all the roof drains were clear. Fronts were great but the little baskets over the rear ones were about half covered with leaf mush. All running freely now, gummiplege on the rubber seals, greased the roof mechanism and a potentially expensive mistake averted.

Date stamped 2017. Fitted in 2018. It then spent 3 years in storage without an engine. It has done 6k miles since I fitted them. Yes. It's doing more now. McDonald
White Lithium grease is usually mentioned for roof mechanisms.
BBB
3 hours ago, jf_cole said: Is there a guide…. I use spray lithium grease on any joint (there are lots of them) in the arms that move. And then put normal grease on the tracks that the clamshell mechanism runs in. WD40 (the brand) do a lithium spray, but so do many others. Some people use dry PTFE spray but mine squeaks if I do that, so back to white lithium for me, even though it’s messier.
Arfur
Took the car to an ac specialist to find out why my ac gave up on the first hot weekend we had had. Looks like the flexi hose in the engine bay is leaking quite badly and my condensers lightly , but the rest of the system has been tested and works (I think I was more worried about an electrical problem) my initial relief at it only being a pipe has been somewhat dampened when I discover that the pipe costs 3-400 quid. Is there a reasonably priced source for these things? car booked in for repair in a few weeks but I’m wondering if I can swap things out myself in the meantime. The standard eccentric adjuster bolts, Porsche or Design 911 have the cam adjuster built in to the bolt. Seems like Spyder don’t, (cheaper I guess). They are a long pair of hoses and awkward to fit. Quite cheap compared to the plastic breather pipe that goes across the top of the engine!!! I understand the LHS air intake needs removing and maybe the AC pump loosening to get at that end ?
phazed
I have removed my system completely. Hoses run from offside front wheel arch, under offside of car and disappear up into the engine compartment in front of the rear offside wheel. I believe there is a junction there to connect up to a pair of pipes to the compressor. All the fittings and connections around the compressor are a bit awkward to get to. A piece of cake with the offside inlet manifold removed. I’m sure you’ll find a how to video on YouTube. All a bit of a pain.
phazed
Condensers are easy to replace. Bumper off and they are right in front of you. I paid about £150 ish for a pair of good pattern rads for my987 last year.
phazed
You can see the gap where the compressor was removed to the left of the inlet connecting tube. It wasn’t pretty in there!

Mine does it and my specialist said its normal, just the oil settling in the flat 6 bores and burning off. He says his workshop is like a 80's nightclub in the morning moving all the cars out, that most of them do this. Its kind of embarrassing sometimes starting it up.
philw696
I too was told it was normal for a flat 6 but it was doing it too much for my liking. I'm an ex Maserati technician and for an in expensive repair that hadn't been done before I did it. No smokey start ups since.

Bike Loon
Maybe I have been lucky, but I have owned 4 Boxsters over a 10 year period and never had one time that there was smoke on start up, apart from when the AOS went on my 986S

Slomofo
So while searching for source of a tinny rattle from O/S rear, I found the Cat appeared to be bereft of weld - thought it was getting louder as well….https://imgur.com/a/lE5ch7w Need to find a welder! Also found the driveshaft outer seal spitting grease on the inside of the wheel barrel, bother…..
