Piotrbjj
Hi guys . I'm thinking to buy 2.7 car with 120.000 miles . Full service history with big service in 2020 but only sporadically used for last 6 years . Where is the limitation in life of flat 6 2.7 engine ? Thank you. Menoporsche
There are 2.5 engines with 200 000 miles on (yes miles not km). so they could see as much as that.
Topbox
Impossible question, nothing lasts forever, plenty on more miles, others terminaly fail early on half the miles. Get one that has been well maintained hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. If you know the scrap value of your car with a broken engine you can calculate approximately your potential loss. Boxster have a bit more value as scrapers than, say, a Ford KA, speaking from experience.
Ninesomething
My 2.7 had over 90k and was sweet. Quiet as a mouse and never used a drop of oil.
Adam Wilson
Mine is a 03 and just on 86,576mls & FSH only had it 3 months, quite a good motor,
GmanB
Mines a 3.2 engine, but they are the same engine just a different bore. 2003 @82k still does factory 0-60, hasn't missed a beat. My maintenance schedule has run out of stamps, so that gives you an idea of how many oil changes it's had. Which reminds me, I need to chase OPC for the new one I ordered. the baron
If your going to worry about the longevity of an engine then maybe the car is not for you., Mines done 211,000 and the oil is changed every 3000-5000 miles, if it breaks I will fix it, no worries. pacificjuha
MIne 2001 2.7 with manual transmission has done 292.000km (approx. 181.440mi) and it runs very strong also at the track as I have race it now two years. Oil usage is basically none at the approx 3500mi oil change intervals.
